3 Mobile to Offer Spotify Music Soon

November 12th, 2009

The UK’s top mobile operator 3 has signed up with Spotify to make the latter’s huge library of music available to its future customers. The deal, which was worked out recently, will be a second such deal of bringing music to the mobile handset. 3 was also the first mobile operator to sign up Nokia’s revolutionary ‘Comes with Music’ deal.

The music service will be launched with the introduction of the HTC Hero mobile handset, which 3 is expected to unveil during Christmas this year. Later on, more models will have Spotify music as part of their basic package. While tariffs have not been decided yet, Spotify might prefer to offer its premium (advert-free) services on mobile handsets.

Spotify has confirmed that this deal is aimed at broadening its user base. By making it a mobile phone compatible feature, Spotify will expand its services reach millions of mobile phones users. The current Spotify application offers legal access to a huge library of music for invitees only.

Internet geeks as well as other users have shown immense interest in this application. The company expects that with such proven demand, its plan to turn mobile phones into access tools will surely find success.

It does go without saying though, you don’t have to be a mobile internet geek to want to learn more about the latest offerings for 3 mobile and other service providers.
